Men, Don’t Let Them See The Crack in Your Armor

Terry Burgess,  Midlife Coach for Men

There are times in our lives when we face difficulties.  Sometimes it come in the form of other people saying negative or false words about us or our actions.  Other times it come in the form of negative actions taking place toward us or our loved ones.

It is very easy for the human side of us to get wrapped up in the moment and to react with natural raw emotions which may be just as negative as those words or actions we have received.   However, our pride and competitive nature wants to lash out and react instead of taking a moment to think about the correct way to respond.

There are a couple of ways which can help you when you face these situations and give you an upper hand of being the “bigger person” as our parents used to say to us when we are younger.  Here is the process I have created to help me deal with these situations:

First, step away and take a deep breath and count to five slowly.

Second, repeat this affirmation silently to help tell your mind it you are ok, “I don’t care what you say or do to me; I am still a worthwhile person!”

Third, just turn around smile at them and politely acknowledge their comments or actions and say, “thanks I am glad to know where you stand” and walk away.

If you use this process it will give you tremendous power and calm besides frustrate those who are being negative toward you in the future and claim a win toward your success.
