One of the biggest challenges we face in life is the timing of events in our lives. Some of us try to schedule each and everything we do in our everyday life so we can use our time more efficiently. Some people do this to feel like they are maintaining control of their life and the events in our lives.
I have always been a little obsessive about keeping good time management skills and monitoring how I use the 168 hours in each week. However, as I have grown I have discovered everything is life comes in cycles and is specific periods or times in life. This is a truth that I discovered by reading, meditating, and praying over the verses in the third chapter of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. The first verse reads as follows:
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
If you read the full chapter you will discover that every activity in our lives will come about at the appropriate timing as determined by the divine providence. This verse gives us a great deal of hope and confidence in the faith of success in our lives will be given to us not in our expected timing but in that of our Lord and Saviors’ timing. We must continue to lay the foundation with our planning, labor, deeds, and follow through and it will produce success when it is the right time according to our Lord.
This requires for us to have a great amount of patience and faith while we keep doing our work toward our goals. It also means that we are going to have periods of failure and challenges while we do our work. Those are the times we must dig deeper to continue and be faithful and industrious with our actions to ensure our ultimate success.
We must ultimately remember it is our job to be act in faith and be consistent with our daily efforts. This also means that we must let go of our desire to force events in to our timing and allow success to come at the timing of our Lord.
