Are you living adventurously? Are you choosing the best for yourself and your family in all areas of life – even where you decide to live?
Let’s face it. Most of us reside where we live because of the top two factors – our employment or our families. But are those cold, long, debilitating winters dragging you down and keeping you from living a significant life? Or maybe it’s the heat and humidity that drains you of energy and creativity? Are the people you’ve constantly been around in your hometown (old high school or college friends, family, etc.) affecting your life in negative ways? Perhaps there is an unconscious limit on your potential simply because of where you’re living?
I want to challenge you to think outside this paradigm of having to live somewhere that you don’t choose. What if you took control of your destiny, your job, your business and your life now? Dig deeper and ask yourself why you live where you do. And if you’re not happy, what can you do to change it?
How do your values, passions, interests and activities align with your current zip code? Do you have hopes and dreams of living by the beach “someday in retirement”? “Someday Isle” (“Someday I’ll…”) is an island that doesn’t exist. Instead, create that ideal lifestyle and surroundings for yourself now that will awaken and energize you to live your fully, authentic self.
Can I challenge you – instead of waiting for a big reason to live somewhere in particular (job, business, wife), why not just choose where you desire to live? Open up a map – dream, then do! People are watching – live adventurously!
One of my favorite quotes smacks right in between the eyes:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
How does this encourage and challenge you today? What are you going to do about it?
