I was recently looking at some files I had on my computer. One of the files was labeled “Journal and Creative Projects”. This file included several word and pdf files of journal entries that I had handwritten while I was going through my “Mid-life crisis turned disaster”. However, what I also found was several poems I wrote during that period.
The first of these poems was written one evening after a very traumatic event in my life. It was one of the lowest of times I had during my life. This was the night that I realized that my marriage was at the point that I might not be able to save it despite my desire to keep my word to my step-son and my ex-mother-in-law. I went to bed that night alone and feeling complete worthless and ashamed. However, I was moved later the next morning to begin to write. Prior to this event I journaled for several years. However, I never considered writing a poem. This morning though that is what was coming to me was the urge to write a poem.
I found a copy of my poem in this file this week. It is the same poem that I printed out and sent to my mother after this event. (Note: I found that copy in my mother’s Bible after she died. It was worn but I could tell she read it very often which she had told me before she died.) This is the day that I began to deal with the fact I was in a mid-life crisis. I also realized that at this point that I was all alone to deal with it since I could not afford counseling nor had a very good support system at that time.
It is this poem that brought me hope and the desire to take the little steps to rebuild my life, my self-esteem, and my dignity as I faced my mid-life crisis turned disaster. This poem today shows me how far I have come in my life over the last 7 years. It also helps me to truly understand where my mission in my coaching business comes from. This is my why and my mission from God.
My mission is to help other men who may be in the same boat I was in during my mid-life crisis to empower and support them while they face those challenges in seeking and making changes toward success but are afraid to take the first steps because they feel alone.
I have no doubt looking back at these words I put down on that paper that day that it was the Holy Spirt leading me and helping me compose this poem.
Today, I want to share this poem with you. I hope this poem can help you regardless of your gender, your age, or your creed. I pray that if you do feel alone that you trust in God and begin the journey to healing yourself and taking steps for the success you and He wants for you in life.
You’re Never Alone
Your faith under fire again
many trials facing you today.
You have no clue where to begin.
Seeking guidance, and a new way
is difficult if you’ve been where you’ve been.
Just remember, You’re Never Alone.
God has promised he’s right there
when things seem too much to bear.
Just immerse yourself in prayer.
God will comfort, console, and guide
if the prayer request you provide.
Just remember, You’re Never Alone.
I know times today are seem rough
but one day when things aren’t as tough
you will see You’re Never Alone!
